Exam Results
Twynham School students received an impressive set of results across a range of subjects when they opened their exam envelopes – or the new app.
More than three quarters (76%) of students achieved a grade 4 or
above in both English and Maths, while just over half (50.2%) secured a strong pass of grade 5 or above in both subjects.
There were strong results in Maths, where 82% of students achieved grade 4 or above and 60% achieved grade 5 or higher.
The school was also particularly pleased to see further progress in outcomes for disadvantaged students, following a continued focus on inclusion and ensuring every young person is supported to achieve their potential. The gap at grade 5 and above reduced significantly compared with last year, narrowing by 5.6 percentage points, while the gap at grade 7 and above also reduced.
Kate Ball, head of school, said: “Ensuring every child can thrive, irrespective of their personal circumstances, has been a real focus for us, so we are also pleased to see important progress in closing the attainment gap for our disadvantaged students. We know there is always more work to do, but this progress is encouraging and reflects the commitment across the school to helping every student succeed.”
Among the outstanding individual performances were
- Audrey, who achieved an exceptional seven grade 9s and two grade 8s.
- Lucy, Tillie and Emily, who also achieved remarkable results, each securing an average grade of more than 8 across their subjects.
The celebrations will continue as students look ahead to the next stage of their education, with many expected to continue their studies at Twynham Sixth Form.
Kate added: “GCSE results day is as much about looking forward as celebrating what has already been achieved. We’re excited to see our students take their next steps and look forward to welcoming many of them into our Sixth Form.
“Whether they choose traditional A-level subjects or one of our growing range of vocational and alternative qualifications, we want students to find a pathway that excites them and prepares them for their future.”
